Join us each week to work on a variety of farm related seasonal tasks at Mill Ridge Park to include:

Planting, weeding, and mulching of the community orchard, gardens, and pumpkin patch

Park beautification, farmhouse repairs, etc.

Accessing gardens may entail walking in tall grass. Dress for appropriate weather conditions and uneven brushy terrain. Gloves, equipment, and refreshments will be provided onsite.

  • HONEY DO 9AM-11AM | Saturday, September 7th

Help us work on our Honey Do List around the park. Together we will work on seasonal tasks that will beautify the park, such as picking up litter and maintaining trails and gardens.

As we will be outside, volunteers should wear closed toed footwear and dress for all elements. Prepare for sun exposure and bugs (sunscreen and bug spray provided). Snacks, beverages, and portable toilets are available onsite. And finally, feel free to bring your own water bottle to cut down on plastic waste!

The goal of Friends of Mill Ridge is to enhance and advocate for Mill Ridge Park to strengthen the community in southeast Nashville & Davidson County.

  • WATER WALK No dates available yet.

Help us clean and rejuvenate the pond and other water sources at Mill Ridge Park. Volunteers will help to clear invasive species around the pond as well as duck weed in the pond. Our goal is to beautify the pond  as well as make room for benches to allow for eventual fishing and nice seating areas around the pond. This opportunity may also include walking the trails of Mill Ridge Park to make sure the streams are clear of litter and easily accessible by all hikers and adventurers.  Activities involve hiking, bending, lifting, and the use of hand tools, and include:

    • Planning, measuring, mapping, and marking where a bridge or bench might best go.

    • Performing brushing activities with loppers, pruners, and weed wrenches.

    • Moving downed trees and branches from trail to maintain proper corridor and prevent shortcutting.

    • Clearing ponds and streams

Volunteers for this event should dress for warm weather conditions, preferably in layers.  We recommend pants and shoes with adequate tread suitable for outdoor activity on rough, uneven terrain. A portable toilet is available near the trailhead.
